Just a note to let you know, you did not fail on your goal to make it to Quartzite, Arizona. You are still heading in that direction and that is progress. You seek perfection. You received progress, and that is perfect. I am so glad you found it somewhere within you, with the help of your guides, to carry on. I found your site from mika's 'Find Your Tribe' post. I recently learned this lesson, albeit under much milder conditions! I was reflecting on my first quarter goals for 2025. Didn't hit a one. But, oh, the progress! The lessons learned! The excitement to still want these goals in my life! I am so grateful for my progress, even though it wasn't perfection. I know you will be too. Looking forward to following your journey & wishing you all the best
I see you know the territory, lol. You’re right; I’m a recovering perfectionist. And even though I know it’s the journey that matters—how well we live it, how deep we go, I often forget it in practice. Assume things aren’t going to plan because I have failed in some way, instead of remembering that I am a tiny, tiny piece of a much larger pattern, and ‘whether or not it is clear to me, no doubt things are working out as they should.’ Thanks for taking the time to connect and for drawing my attention back to this today; it was just the right time for me to hear it again from a new angle. And Happy Birthday!
Questioning, searching, reflecting in one's life leads to the wisdom, adjustments and 'fitting of self', being able to express and share is the gift of a writer. Carry on my friend!
Very glad to hear you are gaining solidly on feeling strong and well again. Excellent news, and your writing is still a gift to read, and enjoy. Thank you for your writing and sharing it. May it flow, out of you and into the world. May you enjoy the creating of all your art and skill/ & craft. Know that an admiring public awaits, when the next drop comes....and shine into the softly creeping spring, where ever you are. We are not done with winter here yet in Wisconsin, but I sense the stirrings of change, despite the fierce winds and still cold temperatures. I seek the sun, and watch the stars, no matter how cold it gets. The planets shone so brightly here the other night.... blessings....and more blessings.
Your post reminds me of something I had to learn and accept from living in India, where it is also difficult. I learned that daily living is enough. Anything extra - aspirations, visions, goals, projects, etc - is extra and if it happens, it happens. But it is enough to live one breath at a time, caring for self. That is enough.
Thank you Beverly! It's kind of a unique life choice so it's wonderful when other people can relate. I'm fortunate not to have had to deal with 16" snowfalls! I think we are very fortunate to live in Northern New mexico, but still, I'm glad it's almost spring. Wishing you all the best with your health challenges. You are definitely not alone. Hope to see you out in the world someday!
Hi Dana. I’ve only just got around to reading this post and I soooooooo relate to it on sooooooooo many levels, quite aside from enjoying your talented writing.
I spent a winter in an RV in Santa Fe many years ago and know all those challenges well including hooking buddy heaters to outside tanks etc. I don’t remember how cold it got but I do remember 16 inch snowfalls and icicles 8ft long hanging off the sides of my RV. Spring did eventually follow.
And the health challenges and feeling so separated from living in and from my creativity. All of it!!!
I felt less alone reading your words.
I have what mind considers major life choices ahead of me this spring n summer. So plans appear to be out of the question. I am currently in my wee house in Santa Fe with my RV sitting alongside. We are both waiting for spring instructions.
Thank you for the courage to share yourself and your journey.
Hello, fellow nomad! You are very welcome. Here's to trusted, elderly laptops!
Yes, I've been following the craziness with the layoffs and the proposed rate hike for the LTVAs. I might head to AZ next winter regardless, and just boondock in Kofa or along the river; it would be good to meet some other nomads. Wishing you the best in these challenging times! -D

Thank you Claudia, for this lovely blessing. <3 Wishing you warmer days, full of green things, stars, redwings, and crocus!
